The Florence High School Alumni Association is an organization of alumni, family, friends and supporters from past graduating classes of Florence High School. Every year, the Alumni Association holds an annual banquet in the high school auditorium. This is the oldest continuing alumni association in the state of Kansas.

112th Annual Florence Memorial High School Alumni Banquet

The 112th Annual Florence Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, May 24th at the Florence Gymnasium with alumni, guests and teachers attending. Years represented were from 1933 to 2008. Special recognition of classes of 1933 (75 year graduate), 1943, (65 Year Graduates), 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948 (60 year graduates), 1953 (55 year graduates), and the Class of 1958 (50 year graduates) was honored at the head table. Also recognized were graduates from classes of 1963 (45 year graduates), 1968 (40 year graduates).

The alumni traveled from California, Texas, Missouri, Washington, Oregon, North Dakota, West Virginia, Nebraska, Arkansas, Arizona and Kansas.

Mike Robinson, Class of 1967 was the Master of Ceremonies. Kelli Savage, representative for Florence Chamber of Commerce welcomed all alumni and guests. Rev. Ted Osgood, Class of 1958, gave the invocation. Kristin Waner, Class of 2008 gave the Senior response.

A delicious meal was served by Reilly Reid, Class of 1965 and the Florence Labor Day Committee.

Florence High School Alumni Association awarded two $1,000.00 scholarships and were presented to Kristin Waner, daughter of Bernard and Janice Richmond Waner, Classes 1966 and 1974 and Brett Billings, son of Erik Billings.

The officers for 2009 are Mike Robinson, Class of 1967, President; Max Williams, Class of 1966; Vice President, Dian Waner Rusk, Class of 1964, Secretary; and Jerry Malmgren, Class of 1963, Treasurer.

Special entertainment was Barry “Bones” Patton, playing the rib bones, Jeff Prichett, playing the guitar and Jake Tanner, playing the fiddler. They had the audience tapping their feet and clapping their hands.

The committee would like to thank each and every one for making the effort to come and attend the banquet and hope that everyone will attend the 113th alumni banquet May, 2009.
