Spring Fling

The first major event of the year in the city is the Spring Fling, celebrating the arrival of spring and enjoying activities for the whole family, and having some great food and conversation with all our neighbors.

Tour de Florence

On the first beautiful Sunday morning in October, don your helmet and join the riders for a 40-mile mountain bike tour of the Flint Hills!

Alumni Banquet

Saturday evening of the Memorial Day weekend, every year since 1896, brings the annual Florence Memorial High School Alumni Banquet. Please make advance reservations for a wonderful evening shared with folks celebrating class reunions and others coming together for a wonderful buffet meal, entertainment and memories.

Labor Day

Labor Day in Florence is traditional, being celebrated for over 50 years. The highlight being the parade which has always started at 11:00 a.m. on Monday Morning with activities and entertainment scattered throughout the entire weekend.

Harvey House Picnic

Summer brings on the time for the Harvey House Picnic by the Florence Historical Society to help raise funds to continue the operation and maintenance of the Harvey House Museum. There is a choice of fried fish or mountain oysters, and an abundance of side dishes, breads, desserts and drinks, made and/or donated by some of the best cooks in the area. A great meal for your much appreciated donation!

Many other events...

The City of Florence also has many other activities and town gatherings such as the Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Grandview Park, the Fire Department Annual Pancake Feed, covered-dish suppers and at the end of the year there is the Annual Breakfast with Santa sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
